Day Sixty Two: Making Sacrifices in the Midst of A Storm
I reached my breaking point a couple days ago. Our little dictator of a governor has pushed the bar too far for me to stomach. It makes me wonder what the consequences will be for his selfish actions. He says pretty words while calling people that want to get back to work cowards. Blood is on his hands and the hands of his department secretary, who is also feeling the power. Things are starting to get ugly. I do have a message for the governor. People are willing and able to make sacrifices to ensure that those who want and need to work, get the work they need in order to survive.
You are going to have people and businesses leave Pennsylvania in droves, once they get the "all-clear" to do so. People are already sacrificing their homes and businesses due to your draconian orders. People are dying because of these orders, not because of the pandemic. You don't have the confidence of the people to do things in their best interest. Many of us have seen the devastation your insane edicts have already caused.
Making people sacrifice their livelihood is not the way any government should run. Even God didn't require sacrifices. I know I may be twisting this scripture way out of context but here it is: Psalms 40:6 (KJV) "Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened; burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required." So what is the context of what I'm trying to say here? It is this...that our governor thinks he's god and his minions are going along with it. He is not god. He doesn't get to dictate what is and isn't acceptable. This pandemic, as bad as it is, is not a good reason to shut everything down. In fact the states that didn't impose a lock down are doing much better than our state.
Yes, I am mad. He and his minions have railroaded us and have violated our constitutional rights as citizens of the United States of America. I don't know about you, but I didn't elect to be part of the United Socialist States of America....Proverbs 21:3(KJV) states clearly "to do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice." This is not justice when you punish businesses and individuals for wanting to open back up. Your judgment is faulty. You have not shown mercy but have created a large pool of unemployed and desperate people. Hosea 6:6(KJV) goes like this: "For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings."
I am trying hard to give our governor and other democratic governors the benefit of doubt. They may truly believe that they are helping their citizens by imposing this lock down. They may truly believe that everyone should be vaccinated before they open up their states, or get tested. It is not going to happen. There are many of us who refuse and are willing to sacrifice our freedom in that refusal. In other words you are going to have to physically force us.
The only one I will sacrifice to is my God. Romans 12:1-2 (KJV) makes this clear. "I beseech you therefore, brethren by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." I honor God by not conforming to your will when it is unjust and hurts people. Yes, we all are making sacrifices right now. Some of us have paid the ultimate price for that sacrifice.
I will "by him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased." The emphasis is on God, not man. 1 Peter 2:4-10 is a perfect description of how we should live as Christians. In this time it becomes that more critical to throw off the bitterness, and forgive those who wronged you.
Admittedly at this present time it is difficult to forgive our governor for his evil acts and for the devastation he caused. I know some of you probably feel the same way. We have been making sacrifices for over two months now. I also know that I do have to forgive those that are making things a whole lot worse than they should be. I'm guessing that this is something I'll probably struggle with for a long while. That's why I am grateful that God is so merciful to me. He understands me so well.
