Day Twenty One: Seeking Joy In the Midst of A Storm

Joy sometimes can be a hard commodity to come by in the midst of a storm. Circumstances like what we're all facing now definitely can rob people of joy. It is however only the surface joy that can be robbed. There is a deeper joy that no one can take away from you. It is the joy of knowing God and being in the center of his will. We read in Proverb 10:28 (KJV) that "the hope of the righteous shall be gladness; but the expectation of the wicked shall perish." What we're seeing now with the wicked actually rejoicing for the collapse of the world's economy won't last. The wicked may expect that in the next six months or so that they will see their ultimate dream of a one world government. Yet, I truly believe that their expectations will turn into dust.

The righteous will prevail. God's will can not be null and void. It is this knowledge that God will prevail over the wickedness of this world that causes this deeper joy to surface. We read in Psalms 94:19(KJV) that "in the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul." I read in this passage that if you sincerely seek to know God, and have a perfect understanding of his promises, you will have that deep joy.

Seeking joy in the midst of a storm can be easy when you understand that God is in control. You can as James 1:2-3(KJV) states: "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience." Yes, it is hard right now. You may be at the point where you haven't a clue as to where you are going. You may be tempted to give up. Here's the thing, Jesus didn't give up. He could have.

Over the next week I'll be offline doing some reflection and prayer through Holy Week. I do challenge you to take at least a day offline yourself for reflection and prayer. Have a Happy Easter!
