Day Forty Two: Seeking Calm Waters in the Midst of a Storm
It is hard to believe that it has been forty two days since the shutdown. Admittedly the first couple of weeks weren't too bad. We weren't seeing the devastating results back then. For many of us it was almost like a vacation. We could pursue hobbies that were long neglected or take a much needed break. It wasn't until the new restrictions started to be reinforced that we began to realize the huge toll this shutdown was taking on all of us.
Fear mongering media outlets ruled the airwaves causing undue panic and anxiety. It seemed that we were in the midst of a raging storm with no outlet. Satan and his minions rejoiced to see this and stoked the fires forcing the seemingly helpless population to bend the knee to them. Their consorts, eager for the rewards, pushed the dangerous agenda forward. They laughed at our puny efforts to find calm waters under our own power. Oh, they don't know and refuse to accept that their awful fate is secured by their treacherous actions. They want to believe that God doesn't exist, and that he is not watching. He is. In Psalms 107:28-29(KJV) It states: "Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He makes the storm a calm, so the waves thereof are still."
No, I will not bend the knee to tyrannical governments that prey on people's pain. I will be a voice to the voiceless, whose rights are being trampled on right now. These people have the right to bank in person and get cash. These people have the right to worship freely without fear of being arrested for doing so. These people have to right to go to work, should they choose to and earn the living they need to survive.
Seeking calm waters in the midst of storm is essential. Everyone needs that calm center in order to function. We definitely need to do our part here. As I may have mentioned in earlier blog posts the chief cornerstone is Jesus. We need to obey God's commandments in order to achieve those peaceful calm waters. In Jonah 1:11-12(KJV) the men who were in the boat with Jonah were sore afraid of the raging storm. They discovered that Jonah was the cause of the storm, so they asked him: "Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous. And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you; for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you." They did as he requested and the sea calmed. Jonah was swallowed by a whale and stayed in the whale for three days and three nights. It was his confession of his sin that God acted on. So we need to confess too. We've allowed corruption and abuse to go unchecked. We've allowed our government to dictate us to the point that we are trapped in this raging storm.
I do have to believe the retribution is coming for all those who have pushed this socialistic agenda on the states. I also have to believe that the Lord hears our cries to release us from this dictatorship and tyranny that allows people to starve and beg for food. I don't buy into the nanny state that shuts down businesses for no reason at all. Yes, it is hard right now. I believe that the Lord will work through people to calm this raging storm.
Matthew, Mark and Luke provide some insight into Jesus' power over the storm. I will cite only Matthew's account in this blog post. The disciples and Jesus were on a boat on the Jordan River when a raging storm came up. Jesus was fast asleep, but the disciples were frightened by the tempest. They wake him up saying "Lord, save us; we perish." In Matthew 8:26(KJV) Jesus replies: "And he said unto them, Why are ye fearful, Oh ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm." Notice it is only when the disciples call unto the Lord, that the seas calm in an instant of time.
So, what do I get from this and what can I take away from it? I have to continue to trust in God's leading in this. I have to continue to cry out to him to right the wrongs that are being perpetuated right now on people that have no access to the Internet. I have to push back on those who want everything digitized so they can manipulate it easily. I believe that God will calm this storm, and we will get back the things we've lost through this crisis.
