Day Forty Six: Finding an Anchor in the Midst of A Storm

How important it is to find some sort of anchor in the midst of a storm! I know we've all felt that we are being pushed in directions we don't want to go. Some of us are fearful, wondering when this current storm will end. Some of us are defeated, letting the waves rush over us and claim our souls. Some are seeking for that one place we can hang onto while the waves pound against us.

We are learning the hard way that we can't depend on government or the media. There are no anchors there to hold onto in the midst of this storm. In fact many are making the storm worse by inflating numbers and stoking the fear. Some are taking advantage to push their harmful agendas down people's throats without recourse. They tell you that "we'll take care of you. You don't deserve this."

I admittedly felt like throwing my hands up and giving in to the pressure. I have conceded with some really stupid regulations to get food. Yet I do have to ask myself the nagging question of "How far am I willing to go here with following these restrictions?" I don't know the answer to that as yet. It is hard watching the commercials featuring the nurses and doctors that are fighting this virus. They must be feeling tremendous pressure right now to conform to what they don't believe in. Some are losing their jobs because they're brave enough to buck the "system" and get the truth out.

Yes, sometimes it feels so overwhelming to me. I look for that anchor that holds my soul. There is only one mention of the anchor of the soul in the Bible. In Hebrews 6:19 (KJV) we read: "Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil:" The next verse states who are our anchor is. It is Jesus.

Finding an anchor in the midst of a storm is necessary. Without an anchor it is very easy to succumb to the forces that are threatening to tear you apart. You need to understand that the government is not your mother or father. They are not your anchor either. You need to find your anchor in Jesus, and trust that he will see you through this storm. All other ground is sinking sand.
