Day Thirteen: Seeking Wisdom In The Midst of A Storm

I saw a disturbing post on Facebook today. A doctor who specializes in infectious diseases inferred that this current pandemic has been targeted towards the elderly population. Usually I take such claims with a grain of salt, but for the fact that I've been seeing all this concern about how this virus attacks the elderly with more force than the very young. I've also seen stories where medical authorities have very wrongly suggested that the young are immune to this virus. In light of that information I understand the young really not taking this virus seriously. In fact I could also understand why the media encouraged this behavior.

Seeking wisdom when there are so many voices pushing you to make very rash decisions is hard. You want to do the right thing by everyone. You don't want to give into the fear that is being projected from all corners. My greatest fear is that the doctor is right, and this is one very deadly way of getting rid of anyone who opposes you. It is the elderly among us that have the wisdom we so desperately need. I read in Job 12:12 (KJV) "With the ancient is wisdom: and in length of days understanding." Let's glace over these words again. The young nowadays think they know it all, as we did when we were young. We didn't know better. We had to learn from our mistakes just like the young should be doing now. Unfortunately in this world of instant and expansive knowledge they don't. They don't have the ability to process all this vast pool of information and knowledge and utilize it. They need and we all need the wisdom of those who have gone before us.

I see a tsunami coming due to the fact that companies for decades have let go of the experienced workers in order to fill their own pockets. The push to put everything online is increasing leaving  those who don't conform "in the dust." It is so easy to manipulate the data electronically. We've seen it in the past month or so. I find myself being the "voice in the wilderness" crying for everyone to stop the rush towards putting everything online. I am being silenced and a whole segment of the population is being ignored.

Admittedly I do lack wisdom as I can't see the whole picture. I read in James 1:5-6 (KJV) "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not: and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." Seeking wisdom in the midst of a storm is difficult because the waves of doubt and fear drive you. Yet if you seek God's wisdom and trust him wholeheartedly, you will be secure.

Palm Sunday and Easter Services have been cancelled for many churches. Many churches are having online services. I think that is great for those who have access to the Internet and can log onto these sites. Unfortunately those that don't will be left out in the cold. I do seek wisdom for these people, Lord to know what churches can do for them. It is not right that they are being cut off completely from the fellowship of fellow believers because they can't or won't go online. I pray that area pastors and pastoral staff will reach out to these people to provide alternatives for them to worship and feel apart of their local congregations. I do fear that many of these local churches will lose significantly in the coming weeks if they don't offer these alternatives.

My heart does ache for them, Lord and for the churches that will have to close their doors permanently due to the loss of their congregations. We are in uncharted waters as many churches have already seen a huge loss of members over the years.
