Day Seventeen: Acts of Kindness In The Midst of A Storm
On Friday I experienced some acts of kindness from two women who helped me after an incident. I am grateful for their help. It felt good that someone, even in the midst of this terrible pandemic, was willing and able to help. I was also blessed by my nephew who came to my rescue, helped me secure the help I needed and helped calm me. I was definitely blessed that I was able to get the help I needed that night too.
Admittedly I'm going to have some long term difficulties, but am assured that God is in control. I was reminded of Ephesians 4:32 (KJV) which reads: "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." I know that I do have to forgive myself first. I can do that because God has forgiven me. It's not easy to be kind when you're feeling down on yourself. The acts of kindness you do come from a heart that has been released from the guilt and pain. You may be asking how you can be released from that guilt and pain. There is one way. You must repent of those sins, ask God to take them away and then believe that he can.
This is the perfect time to rid yourself of that guilt and pain. You don't need to keep carrying it. It was God's sacrifice of his son who died on the cross for our sins that allows us to leave that burden behind. You may be saying right about now that I heard this all before. Yet it really hasn't sunk in. Let's read this verse again with the focus on God's forgiveness. God forgives man's sin because Jesus Christ is our advocate. I am sometimes "blown away" by this, because he really didn't have to do this. It was his act of kindness towards the human race to make a way for us to be with him eternally.
Acts of kindness show your heart. It is through these acts of kindness that we can see the light at the end of this tunnel. Christ provided a good example for us to follow. He didn't ask for anything. Instead he was always giving. In Acts 20:35(KJV), Paul states that "I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how it is more blessed to give than to receive." I found that to be true.
I do challenge you and myself as well to find some acts of kindness you can do to make this time a bit more bearable. Acts of kindness in the midst of a storm shine brighter because you have to work harder for them.
