Day Eighteen: Seeking Refuge in the midst of a storm
You may be thinking right about now why refuge wasn't my first blog post. Shouldn't we all be seeking refuge? Yes. It is becoming very clear to me that the urgency of seeking refuge should be our first priority. I agree, but I already have refuge. I claim the promise stated in Psalms 46:1-3 (KJV) that " God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof, Selah."
The socialist agenda is moving full speed ahead, taking every advantage with this unprecedented crisis. It is not a pretty picture, yet when I stop focusing on what's before my eyes and start focusing on God, I get a different picture. I know that God is sheltering me. He sees me in this time of affliction. Jeremiah 16:19 (KJV) emphasizes this. It states " Oh Lord, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity and things wherein there is no profit."
Let's try and break down this verse. The first part says that God is our strength and fortress. He is also our refuge in the time of affliction. We are all going through a very severe trial with the government grabbing more and more power on a daily basis. They want to be our strength and fortress. They seem to think that they know best by limiting our freedoms to the point that I don't even know our country anymore. Yes, I do know that it's necessary right now, but my fear is that it won't stop once this pandemic is over.
The second part of this verse is eerily prophetic and timely. I truly believe that this pandemic will cause a reawakening and a revival so that all people will come to know the Lord. They will say that the governments don't have the answers, that everything they'd been told to believe is false and the vain will be brought low. I also believe that this may be one of the last times that God culls the people that he calls his own. I am not going to try to predict that the End is near, but we've all seen the signs. It is during this week leading up to Palm Sunday that we really need to get the message out. Government is not your savior. You can't seek refuge in any one person. God is your refuge.
When I feel anxious, I recall a portion of this verse. I pray that the socialist regulations that are now being put in place will ease. I pray that all that God will call to himself seek refuge in him. Seeking refuge in the midst of a storm isn't foolish. Some would call our beliefs foolhardy and archaic. Some are rejoicing to see all the churches closed. Their hearts are darkened. For all you seekers out there, the time is short. Now is the day of salvation.
